      It was an excellent opportunity, and I wish I could have stayed longer, but the economic downturn affected my salary.

      Pros

      The range of resources, people, benefits, intellectual environment, as well as the opportunity to teach one's own are of research made it a great place to work.

      Cons

      The poor investments of the university's Endowment had repercussions for staffing, salary, resources available to students and faculty in ways we had not anticipated.

      Pros

      - Top notch faculty and students - Large and useful alumni network - Very interdisciplinary environment (at least in GSAS) - Stipend is quite high (though Boston is quite expensive...) - Hard to beat the Harvard name

      Cons

      - Ridiculous amount of bureaucracy and inefficient, antiquated practices - If you so much as sneeze, they charge you a fee (even though they have a HUGE endowment) - Cafeteria food is terrible and expensive, there are almost no restaurants near the northern campus area, and most restaurants in Harvard square (near the southern campus) are expensive (though some are good)

      Pros

      I feel privileged to be a student at Harvard. The resources are outstanding. Overall, my department is pretty laid back relative to other departments. People are very friendly and generally give each other lots of respect.

      Cons

      People like to brag about working all the time, even if they don't.
