Pros

Great energy being in Harvard Square. Access to amazing resources. Opportunity for continuous learning.

Cons

If your program is overseen by a faculty chair, as most are at Harvard, your experience will depend on the personality and management style of the chair. Mine would speak disrespectfully to staff constantly. Expectations and goal posts changed regularly. Goals were established without sufficient resources to achieve them. Staff turned over constantly.

Pros

Working for Harvard comes with incredible benefits but you must take advantage of them. Live near campus, go to the gym, use HUHS, spend time in campus spaces, get a degree from the extension school, attend concerts and events.

Cons

Some employees have been here for a long time and can be 10-15 years behind in office culture. It's definitely an older way of doing business, so you have to be ready for that. Lovely people though.

Pros

Harvard is a place that offer several learning opportunities to its employees and great benefits. It also fosters a culture of respect and allows opportunity for growth. There are policies and several resources in place, should employees face difficulties at work or at the personal level.

Cons

The University's decentralization becomes an issue because different schools within Harvard tend to operate differently. There is a culture of idolization of faculty, which leads many of them to abuse their power. There aren't clear resources for those who need career coaching.
