      Pros

      I like the academic atmosphere, hours and benefits, paid time-off, etc. Being part of the inner-workings of a world famous institution is sort of fun. Lots of opportunities for training within the University (computer classes, discounted extension courses, etc.).

      Cons

      Depending which office or school you work for, the culture can be stuffy, sluggish, overly hierarchical, bureaucratic, tough to get ahead or move around, get things done, etc. Parking is tough for car commuters.

      I have a great English supercomputing boss.

      Pros

      I have a rugged looking Englishman as a boss. He laughs a lot and uses strange slang from something called 'Blighty'. Adds a great atmosphere around the computing lab. He lets me toy around with a lot of hardware putting it in racks. The lights blink a lot and that makes me feel warm and fuzzy.

      Cons

      I believe I've been told I've been going pear-shaped. I thought this was an insult on my hips but I think it has something to do with his slang terms. Even though he laughs a lot he looks like firemarshall Bill from In Living Color when he does that. The UPS system makes funny sounds and sometimes smells like battery acid.

      Pros

      The only long term benefit might be the brand name to help find a job and advance in your career later.

      Cons

      Harvard pays a very low salary. The work condition and the equipment is mostly old and miserable. The work environment is horrifying.
