      Pros

      Great benefits. Good work life balance. Excellent community. Very strong senior leadership. Many opportunities for movement across the university.

      Cons

      Compensation is very low in comparison to industry and based off seniority as opposed to merit. Too many people coasting to retirement. Does not embrace innovation enough to be considered relevant outside of Higher Education.

      Pros

      Good benefits, flexible schedule. Salary is below industry but a bit higher compared to research hospital salary. It is a good environment to learn, and to make connections.

      Cons

      There is no annual review with increase in salary based on performance. You can do an outstanding job, but the P.I. won't have the initiative to give you an incentive. Either you stay with your same salary or you get lucky and your salary increase due to negotiations of the union.
