Pros

Great people overall. Flexible hours, every possible career path, access to the best education and partial tuition assistance! (some paid time off to attend job related coursework; intellectually stimulating environment, access to great libraries, all in the beautiful setting of Cambridge, MA

Cons

Don't try to ever cross them or they turn on you. Push comes to shove you are no longer one of them and they can and will mistreat and abuse you to protect themselves.

Pros

Great benefits! Good Health Coverage. Crazy amounts of days off, and sick time. Tuition Assistance for Education. Academic pace

Cons

Yearly increases are less than the rate of inflation for "strong performers". Depending on the role, upwards mobility might not be an option. Lots of red(crimson)-tape to get anything done.

Pros

It is an awesome environment to be in. Internationally diverse, bright people, surrounded by people who are really making a difference in the world. Lots of culture, and learning opportunities via free classes. Good gym benefits, health benefits. Paid time off is good if they let you use it. Automatic one week off at Christmas break is awesome. Your job will be more stable then the private sector, but I have seen plenty of people laid off unexpectedly.

Cons

Especially if you are a minority, growth opportunities are limited. Most places, though not all, expect you to work very hard for not great pay. There is a lot of classism and elitism which can be challenging and frustrating to deal with.
