Pros

Interesting work, awesome people. Build relationships that will last a lifetime.

Cons

More like a bunch of small companies than one big company in many ways. Subject to boom-bust cycles. The quality of experience you get depends on circumstances and who you know. Lack of effective performance review with no direct connection to promotions, salary and stock offers. Word of mouth replaces a real system with obvious potential for biases or disconnection from reality.

Pros

-Great individuals, good mix of young and old -Professional atmosphere -Learning opportunities and chance to explore large variety of different industries within engineering

Cons

-Below average pay (there are smaller firms that pay much better) -The management is too naive and slow to adopt to current trend -Job security is next to none. Senior engineers often hesitate too long to make decisions or take responsibility for that reason -For the same reason above, there are way too many unecessary meetings that lead to no where and the majority of items are re-discussed repeatedly without any progress -Some senior employees are on serious power trip that takes up everyone's time

Pros

Great training opportunities - courses, conferences etc. Hatch spends way more than our competitors supporting industry associations and events. If self motiviated and creative, can do your own thing. Great learning on projects. Good variety of projects keeps things interesting.

Cons

Lack of business leading to massive cuts (but probably similar to our competitors). Nearly impossible for a women or visible minority to reach the upper echelons of Hatch. As far as I know, not a single women in 60 years has been on the board of directors..... Too much arrogance at the board level. Lack of appreciation for our mid career and senior employees.
