Pros

It used to be a very nice company to work for while there was enough work and the company was doing well. Many opportunities within the company.

Cons

Lack of work in the industry = complete change for worse. Many layoffs. Job insecurity. "Right sizing / right shaping".

Pros

Working with good people. Work life balance was reasonably good.

Cons

The coal price dropped during my employment, and many projects were cancelled. There were layoffs, and I initiated getting another job before I didn't have a choice.

Pros

International exposure, standardised systems, specialist process capability

Cons

Management seems at a loss to develop a strategy for the business post mining boom and has not been reactive to market conditions except through downsizing. Unfortunately mass redundancies have left Hatch in Australia without the necessary personnel and skills base to deliver work and meet the marketing hype. Avoid unless you work for the non-ferrous group.
