Pros

The best thing about going to work at Hathway was the people that I interacted with on a daily basis. They helped to alleviate some of the stress that I was feeling being at the company. Most people I interacted with had a positive attitude. There is a lot of good talent at the company.

Cons

The project that I worked on was very poorly managed from the beginning. Original PM was reassigned mid-project; worked for over a month without a dedicated PM; took a while for new PM to become familiar with project and how things at the company worked. Overall I felt like project wasn't given the attention it warranted until I gave my notice that I was leaving, at which point, there was a huge scrambling of resources and reorienting of technical direction to try to make things come together. The culture and values of the company were preached, but not really followed, in my perspective. Resourcing was poorly managed for engineering staff. I struggled giving many evenings and weekends on a project as the single developer, always in a constant state where things with the project were changing and I was the one always playing catch-up. I did this all while witnessing other projects being properly staffed with several developers. The project I worked on was for the company's largest client; I would have thought that they would have taken more care in making sure it was properly resourced. My requests for more staffing on the project went ignored. My manager helped with a few small pieces where he could, but he was stretched pretty thin as well. Because of all this, my work product suffered as a result, because it could never receive the proper attention that it warranted. I was constantly being pulled in different directions. Overall, in my many years as a developer/engineer, it was the worst-managed project that I've worked on in my career. In the end, I felt like I was being abused. I became too stressed out in dealing with it all and decided to move on.
