Pros

There is a lot of room for growth if you work hard and do what you are supposed to. Great group of people to work with! Everyone is helpful and there is little to no workplace drama.

Cons

As sales and even design sometimes your pay (commission based) were effected by things that are not your job or in your control. It's retail so keep in mind you will work every weekend and most Holidays.

Pros

Depending on if you luck out or not, your coworkers can be fun. You can learn a lot about furniture, especially from the sales people who have been doing this for eons.

Cons

You work every holiday and every weekend. You work on commission with a base which I was told is the same for everyone until I quit and then my manager offered me a bigger base pay to stay. Sometimes it's really slow. You can really only make a lot of money if you're okay with bending the rules and have your coworkers hate you for stealing their sales, and if you're a designer it's like pulling teeth getting the sales team to use your expertise as they would prefer to dump customers they don't want to work with on you, they'd rather not leave the store to go on house calls (I don't even blame them), or they'd rather have the customers do their own work and leave the store to measure their own house, this way the salesperson can work with another customer (again, they work on commission so I don't blame them).

Pros

Havertys is a family owned an operated company that really cares for it's employees. Benefits are great and as a Home Designer I am able to create my own flexible schedule. Working for yourself in any creative field means non-stop risk management. Something that you don't have to worry about when protected under a corporate umbrella. The Hdesign program utilizes technology that makes it easy for designers to consult and creatives incentives for customers to buy.

Cons

Having said all of that the program is not perfect. It is now 5yrs in the making and improving all the time, but there are a few flaws with how it is structured currently. Prepare yourself to have management responsibilities without the title because you are tasked with training your sales team on all matters Hdesign. You are to manage customer interactions between your sales team and prospected clients from in the store to purchasing appointment. You are the sole entity in your store representing a corporate program. A program that is heavily emphasized by corporate to be successful and build tickets, but relies on one person at each store to nearly micromanage 10 sales people at a time. The only thing that will make this operation a success in your store is your managers involvement. Your manager needs to help you track and monitor interactions, make sure that sales are getting accurate information to help you help the customer, make sure that sales are following up their customer, and act as a displinarian or judge when matters need sorting out.
