Pros

Easy job. Minimal to no education or skills required. Flexible schedule but make sure you have no family responsibilities, (required to work nights, weekends, and holidays).

Cons

Poor pay, no advancement, strictly commission pay, and a hostile environment. It was clear to me early on that when a six year veteran, (and mother of two) was callously let go for missing her sales goal for two months, that Havertys was not a desirable place to work. Management would treat employees like fecal matter, and tolerate blatant discrimination. Many employees would opt out of the health insurance because they simply couldn't afford the deduction out of their paycheck. Yeah, it was that bad.

Pros

Good Pay if you can prospect and close the up but that is true with most positions with most companies. Furniture is good quality.

Cons

The company is managed from corporate which doesn't work. Customers and Sales People are getting lost in the red tape and centralized from corporate management model. Management from corporate to the regional management DO NOT care about their employees and show they DO NOT care on a consistent basis. Computer system is grossly out of date which causes major issues with delivery, paying sales people, etc. They still use Bosa Nova for their schedule and delivery software, this can give you a clue. Benefits have taken a serious decline over the years. They penalize you if you do not get delivery paid and gold plan included. they no longer sell the high end brands of furniture that we used to sell very well. They have moved to a Haverty's Brand Furniture. This hurts our sales since we are not able to match competitors prices since no one else carries the Haverty's brand . duh!

Horrible company.

Pros

Great furniture, customers are good qualified clients, most likely to be approved for credit. Various choice in finishes and fabric.

Cons

Toxic environment, misleading recruitment tactics, poor moral, flooded sales floor, vs. annual sales volume, constant commission structure change which makes it unattainable to reach and make a good living, negative corporate office. The worst benefits and pay plan.
