Pros

Flexible schedule good pay if you have a good month selling Relaxed atmosphere Large variety of traditional furniture to sell Good training My manager and other people work with are good I don't hate going to work Stays busy in good locations Rewarding getting to help people choose furniture when they will talk to you

Cons

Must meet quota or get fired 3 month rolling average of selling $120,000 or $40,000 per month of furniture or fired Straight commission Bad pay if you have a bad month Unpredictable pay, hard to buy a house or a car on payments Cannot plan for the future well unless your a top notch furniture salesman Many little rules to follow Can not negotiate.......anything .......when selling Must work every holiday I've seen a lot of people come and go .......you will hear the words.....just looking, just getting ideas, just killing time more often than you can imagine. It's like customers know the script and exactly what to say

Pros

Good Pay if you can prospect and close the up but that is true with most positions with most companies. Furniture is good quality.

Cons

The company is managed from corporate which doesn't work. Customers and Sales People are getting lost in the red tape and centralized from corporate management model. Management from corporate to the regional management DO NOT care about their employees and show they DO NOT care on a consistent basis. Computer system is grossly out of date which causes major issues with delivery, paying sales people, etc. They still use Bosa Nova for their schedule and delivery software, this can give you a clue. Benefits have taken a serious decline over the years. They penalize you if you do not get delivery paid and gold plan included. they no longer sell the high end brands of furniture that we used to sell very well. They have moved to a Haverty's Brand Furniture. This hurts our sales since we are not able to match competitors prices since no one else carries the Haverty's brand . duh!
