Review on Wafer Characterization Lab
Pros
I had the opportunity to work for 5 years at Headway Technologies but as my responsibilities were focused in wafer characterization lab, my review will mostly reflect dynamic of this group. This review is covering the last two years of my service, 2020-2022, as characterization manager has changed in 2020 and a review about prior years would be irrelevant. Also for general direction of Head/magnetic storage business, one might want to look for a different investigative review. Overall, it is a relatively stable domain. Professional/Personal Aspect: Characterization lab is equipped with various state of the art equipment which will give any professional individual an opportunity to learn different techniques/tools while performing their daily/weekly projects/or jobs which eventually help them with their professional career growth. Majority of coworkers are new graduates, young, energetic, knowledgeable, easy to work with and communicate. The overall atmosphere of the group is positive, friendly, with occasional chances to socialize and strengthen the group bond. The manager is a young kind individual who has great years of experience in materials characterization and electron microscopy. General Aspect of the Work/Company: Headway is providing good health care, and 401K retirement plans. The bonuses are and have been quite satisfactory till current day.
Cons
On the negative side, work load can be quite heavy with long working hours some days which may at times makes it difficult to interact with other groups at the company and see/enjoy the full picture of the completed puzzle of the final product.
