Pros

Immediate management is unbeatable, salary is fair, benefits are good, working from home and hours are flexible

Cons

Upper management does their best to be transparent, but the constant political and ethical discussions are getting old.

Thank you for your feedback and review. And I'm glad to hear that your experience thus far with your direct supervisor, with your compensation and benefits, and with your job flexibility have been positive. Thanks for sharing your perspective also regarding the time we spend on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion issues. While I agree that our primary work is absolutely focused on our mission of being a catalyst to enable massive, measureable data-informed healthcare improvement, I disagree that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion topics don't have an important place in accomplishing that mission. I want every team member at Health Catalyst to feel appreciated, respected, loved and supported in their important work, because when they do, their engagement increases and they are in a position to do the best work of their career. Any obstacles to that engagement are critical to understand and then remove, and some of the obstacles that some of our teammates face include challenges related to the color of their skin, or another dynamic like their sexual orientation or their gender. When negative experiences occur in the workplace based on these elements, these teammates are not in that ideal situation to feel energized to do the best work of their career. I have visited, 1:1, with hundreds of these teammates, over the past year, and heard firsthand examples of situations where these teammates have experienced these types of challenges in their lives, including some examples that have happened in the workplace. Through these hundreds of 1:1 interactions I have come to appreciate that I did not understand what it was like to be a teammate of color, a queer teammate, a female teammate, at Health Catalyst, and as such I also didn't understand or fully appreciate some of the unique challenges faced by these teammates. Now I better understand, after listening to teammates who have had these experiences. And that is why we are working to improve here, as part of an overarching desire to enable every team member to love working at Health Catalyst, and to do the best work of their career here. Further, some of the important data-informed healthcare improvement that needs to occur is greater equity in the delivery of care. There should never be prejudice embedded in the delivery of care, of any kind, and when that exists, we are not yet optimized and there is important improvement work to do. Data can inform this improvement work, and I'm thrilled that we're working on these tough issues right now with multiple health system clients. I hope that sharing the "why" behind our focus on Diversity topics was helpful and might persuade you to come to future topical discussions with an openness, particularly within the context of the "why we should be kind to one another" slide that we begin each all-team-member meeting with -- a reminder that what we know about another person's life and experience is so little. Thank you again for your review and feedback. Best, Dan

Pros

-The company's values, mission, and C-suite leadership continue to hold my respect and admiration. Prior comments and feedback have been listened to and affected meaningful change. -Quality of the team members has been and continues to be the best I've had the privilege to work with. -Despite the amount of change and some of the resulting unknowns, I still feel a part of something important and meaningful.

Cons

The amount and level of change, irrespective of COVID-19, has had some negative effects: -Changes have not been announced well or communicated clearly in some cases -Expectations have been difficult to understand fully through the changes -Future outlook of the company has been communicated well, but how changes affect the outlook of different departments within the company has not been.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and for three years of meaningful contributions to the success of the company. Thank you also for sharing the positives you've experienced, we will try to reinforce and keep enabling those elements you highlighted. And thank you also for sharing the cons and advice. Your perspective is resonant and it highlights the tension between the principle of transparency and completeness of decision/communication. It's an elusive balance and I'm confident that we don't always get it right. We are trying to be more mindful in 2021 and beyond of consistency in communication, and in providing each manager with opportunities to communicate with their individual teams, more frequently, which should allow for more tailored communications, relevant for each team. We'll keep working at it. Thank you again for your contributions these past three years! Best, Dan

Pros

The company is growing fast and there are a lot of opportunities still at this stage in the company, it is an exciting place to work. Leadership and management care about the people in the company, they sincerely care about everyone. If you are interested in a career in healthcare, data, or both, this is an excellent place to work. You get a good variety of projects when you are part of the ASO (Analytics Service Organization). The ability to have complete flexibility of working from home or in the office, is really nice. This culture that was established pre-COVID set our company up to succeed and have very few issues with offices temporarily shutting down where other companies had to flounder and quickly adapt. I feel like the communication from leadership and management is very transparent and honest. The benefits package is overall really good. The Health Catalyst culture is great, the people that work here are hard working, bright, and refreshingly humble and kind.

Cons

401K Matching was reduced which has been a major frustration for many, including me. Experience, assignments, and opportunities vary a lot depending on clients you are assigned to. I am very confused about the PTO policies, I really don't know at this point what an acceptable amount of time to take off is, I feel like the total PTO and holiday allotment has been reduced.

Thank you for your review and for your feedback about your experience over the past 1-2 years as a Senior Analytics Engineer at Health Catalyst. I appreciate the positives that you shared in terms of feeling cared for, communicated to, and finding the culture positive, with flexibility and variety! I also appreciated the feedback about the cons in your experience regarding the reduction in the 401(k) match and some confusion about PTO and holidays. It is particularly tricky in the Services functions to find an acceptable and sustainable balance between hours worked per week, desired vacation time, and a financially-sustainable amount of billable work. We have developed a framework that allows for some flexibility for team members to dial up or down different components and still be financially sustainable. There is a presentation that we reviewed in a prior All Team Member meeting that the Professional Services Leadership also has that could be helpful -- perhaps you could request from your manager. I also appreciate your feedback in working to understand team member interest as an important component of client assignments -- this is a great suggestion. I'll share this with leaders, and would invite you to also share this with your manager. Thank you again for your feedback and for your contributions to our mission! Best, Dan
