Needs to refocus

Pros

*Underlying corporate culture remains exceptionally strong *Fundamentals (positive EBITDA, YOY growth) are positive *Leadership appears to be refocusing on core value proposition *Post-COVID WFH policy makes sense given how spread out the company is

Cons

*Recent lack of direction/unsuccessful initiatives (TEMS) feels desperate *Rampant acquisitions diluted and distracted from core offerings *RIFs in the interest of saving $$ ring hollow when the company spends millions on repeated acquisitions; hollows out capability of teams to support legacy products *Realignment of compensation model removed components that at least some mid-career employees value and/or had come to expect with little or no opportunity for meaningful input (bonus, stock based comp)

Thank you for your honest and thoughtful feedback, and thank you for your more than eight years of dedication to our company. Your commitment and perspective are incredibly valuable, and I’m grateful you took the time to share both the strengths you’ve experienced and the concerns you hold. I'm glad to hear that our strong culture, business fundamentals, and renewed focus on core strengths are resonating with you. It's also encouraging to know that remote flexibility continues to be a positive aspect of your experience. At the same time, I hear your concerns about strategic shifts, the volume and impact of acquisitions, and the pressure that reductions have placed on teams. These are not easy dynamics, and I want to acknowledge the very real strain they can create. As I’ve shared in recent All Team Member communications, achieving sustainable, client-centered growth is crucial to maintaining our position as an independent, publicly traded company. I hope you’ll join our upcoming All Team Member Meeting, where I’ll share more about our company-wide stretch goals and how each of us plays a role in moving that vision forward. You also raised meaningful points about compensation and how changes have been experienced by mid-career team members. In the past two years, we’ve prioritized meaningful base salary increases, even amid challenging conditions, and we will continue doing our best to make decisions that support both our people and our long-term sustainability. In December 2024, we provided core team members with a 5% above-market base salary increase, part of our broader commitment to offering pay that’s competitive with the market across core roles. This is a multi-year journey, but one we revisit and prioritize in every planning cycle. While the uncertainty around workforce reductions is difficult, it is a reality most large organizations face as part of responsible annual planning. If you’re open to it, I’d welcome the opportunity to connect 1:1 to hear more of your perspective. Your insights help us reflect, grow, and lead more effectively. I want to thank you again for sharing them and for the impact you continue to make as part of this team. Best, Dan Burton

Pros

Early in year, a 2024 annual increase of 5%, but doesn't go into effect until December. The values in which we state we strive for are noble. World Class at being mediocre. No return to office mandate, however it is the only place you can get company provided fitness access. Keeps making "Best Place to Work" lists. Added a sabbatical last year, to be determined if it's actually usable.

Cons

My 2024 tax return will see an annual increase of 0.4% raise over my 2023 tax return. Executives tired to spin this as a win for team members. Medical deductibles and out of pocket maximums increased $4,000 from 2024 to 2025. Out of pocket max is at least $1850 more than the HSA maximum contribution limit. Team members are footing the bill for millions in savings to the organization, not this "benefit". "Benefit" to help offset this are maddening. Nearest PCP, of preferred gender preference, is a 30min drive away. PCP I trust unequivocally for the best interest of my family is not covered reimbursed by "benefit". Benefits have been stripped to bare bones. The culture has become toxic. In general team members are more loyal to the company than the company is to them. No on going support for home office wear and tear, but no return to office mandate. Goodbye fitness stipend.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Your perspective is valuable, and we take feedback like this seriously as we continue to evaluate ways to support our team members. We understand that changes to benefits and compensation can have a significant impact, and we want to ensure you have the clearest and most accurate information. I encourage you to contact your people operations business partner, who can provide further clarification on these changes and address any specific concerns you may have. We do continue to benchmark our compensation and benefits every year and strive to provide above-market base salary for core team members, including the above-market 5% base salary increase you noted, which you received in December 2024, and above-market benefits, even with the noted changes as part of this annual planning cycle. We do operate within financial constraints, no question, but this is also a differentiator and a strength that our company is financially profitable and sustainable and not dependent on outside sources of capital to fund ongoing operations. We do also strive to be loyal to team members, to prioritize promoting from within, and are grateful to have witnessed nearly 900 promotions over the past three and a half years for team members. And we’re grateful to continue to offer team members with remote flexibility, no mandated return-to-office, flexible PTO, 18 company-paid holidays, company-paid life insurance and disability insurance, meaningful 401(k) matches, fitness reimbursement, home office reimbursement, online company-sponsored counseling and physical therapy, annual education assistance of up to $10,000, and many more benefits. We are not perfect, but we strive to invest in team members and have done this consistently since our founding in 2008. Best, Dan Burton

Pros

The company has a good long future ahead Communication from the highest levels is still good The company mission is worthwhile

Cons

I've been at Health Catalyst through a lot of changes, and the latest round feel like the hardest to swallow. The move to focused almost entirely on services leaves R&D feeling very light and very secondary, asked to do more with less and to focus on things that are neither interesting nor satisfying to work on. Communication from the middle levels is less good. Departmental team meetings feel like the message is just "Toe the company line and work harder" which does not make the future seem hopeful. For developers left at the company, things feel more and more siloed and isolated.

Thanks for your thoughtful review and more than eight years of contributions to our success. It sounds like we have improvements to make in our communication in the layers below Leadership Team level. We would love to hear your ideas for doing better here. Please set up time with your Leadership Team member or me. I hope you’ll find a bright future ahead for you at Health Catalyst as a senior software engineer. -Dan Burton
