Pros

- Remote-friendly workplace: I come into the office only two to three times a month - Results-oriented: if you get things done, nobody cares how or when - Great benefits: health, dental, home office, fitness, tuition/education, parental leave, PTO - Strong internal advocacy for women and LGBT employees - Great corporate mission: saving lives is as important as saving money - Trustworthy execs: honesty and transparency start at the very top, and payroll is *always* made on time

Cons

- Education budget is not always as advertised. Your department lead may decide certain things aren't covered. You still get more benefits here than you'd get anywhere else, but prepare for occasional disillusionment. - Salaries are not highly competitive. This is by design. The company is committed to pay better than the industry average but not so high that you can't easily find a bigger paycheck somewhere else. - Not all teams are created equal. Some teams are so high-strung and bureaucratic that I would quit if I had to work for them. - The hiring process is a complete flaming mess. It includes several grueling marathon interviews and a time-consuming take-home project. Hiring decisions take weeks, during which time you might not hear anything if you don't reach out.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. I appreciate the detail in both the positive categories and in the areas where we need to improve. We'll keep emphasizing the point that the education budget needs to be consistently available as a company-wide benefit that should not be dependent on individual departments or groups feeling there is budget. It is appropriate for the team member to have a conversation with their manager to jointly confirm that what is being considered will be an appropriate use of the education benefit, but there we have also asked managers to err in favor of support to the requesting team member. We're also trying to strengthen the consistency of managers' performance and excellence. We are rolling out the 360-degree feedback process and are on track to be completed by the end of the year, which will help us understand areas to address where there may be some improvement opportunities. Also, I appreciate the feedback regarding the interview process. Your comments and some others caused me to read and review the interviewee feedback here on Glassdoor, and I can see that those review ratings have decreased over the past year or so. I just asked three Leadership Team members to conduct a review of our interview and hiring processes, to review all the feedback we've received, and to develop recommendations for improvement companywide. We will work to improve here. Thank you again for taking this time, and for contributing to our software engineering capabilities here at Health Catalyst, for more than a year now. I sincerely appreciate your commitment to the company. Best, Dan

Pros

-Our focus on the company's mission is real -Company culture is second to none ....because the emphasis is on the core value of "humility" -Sr. Mgt. does an excellent job of staying focused on the mission, operating principles and core values ....it is emphasized for top to bottom -I don't know of and I am not aware of any other CEO who is as transparent as Health Catalyst's ....the open communication from the CEO is superb! The CEO exemplifies selflessness and humility and takes care of all team members because it's, not only the right thing to do, but it also better enables us (team members) to excel in our jobs so that we can take better care of our clients....brilliant strategy!

Cons

-Growing pains because of company growth

Thank you for your feedback, and for your generous and gracious words. I will try to live up to your kind words, and when I fall short, will try to humbly acknowledge, apologize and then work to improve. I'm really grateful to hear of your positive experiences at Health Catalyst, including the mission-focus, the culture and values focus, and the emphasis on the importance of humility. We as a leadership team have just begun a process of reviewing, with help that we will solicit from all team members, the Health Catalyst Way, something we do every few years, to see if there are any updates we should make. I look forward to receiving input and feedback from our teammates, to help us continuously improve while also keeping the focus on timeless principles (principles and values that we did not invent but that have benefited our company greatly over the years). Thank you again for your encouraging words! Best, Dan

Dream Company

Pros

Genuine leaders who : *are passionate about the company's mission *prioritize the well-being and development of each team member *I trust completely and enjoy working for Fulfilling and exciting company mission where I feel that my daily contributions are meaningful Flexibility that allows me to work from home and prioritize my family in ways that weren't possible with previous jobs Terrific benefits and compensation; I'm well-cared for and feel a little spoiled at times

Cons

Pains associated with a high-growth company: department re-organizations, processes for training/onboarding aren't effectively structured yet. However, it's exciting to be with a company that's filling a desperate need in the healthcare industry and is growing at a rapid pace that pushes everyone to act like an owner and be proactive in solving the growth-related challenges.

Thank you very much for sharing this detailed and thoughtful feedback. I'm appreciative of your kind words about what's working well, and we'll try to emphasize and stay consistent in enabling work flexibility (I love the flexibility to work from home as well -- in fact I'm writing this review from my home office, where I work about 40% of the time), transparency, autonomy and ownership. I'm also glad to hear you feel well-compensated. We keep this as a focus area, and are currently working hard to increase the team member equity-component of compensation, increasing the true "ownership" opportunity for every team member, and hopefully we'll have some good news to share along those dimensions soon. Also, I appreciate the feedback regarding the value of a more structured and developed training program. We are focusing on this, particularly in professional services. I hope you were able to participate in last week's Pro Services training held in conjunction with the Healthcare Analytics Summit. I was really excited about the PS leadership team's innovative idea to dovetail training with HAS, and to invest more time and energy into team member development. I'm hopeful that these actions will make a positive impact, and I would encourage you to share feedback with the PS leadership team on what's working well, and where we might need additional focus. Finally, thank you for contributing each day, in such a critical role -- Analytics Engineer -- in helping our clients use data to improve and transform. Your responsibilities are right at the heart of why we exist as a company. You are a catalyst, and I deeply appreciate your work and your commitment to enabling our clients' success! Best, Dan
