Pros

Health Catalyst is a cutting edge company in Healthcare Data Warehousing and Analytics. With a full range of mature tools that are almost plug-and-play, and with the expertise of its employees, it does a great job at partnering with medical centers across the country to improve outcomes and reduce healthcare-related waste. Compensation is very competitive and there is plenty of opportunity to contribute across the company as we continue to grow quickly. At the same time, work-life balance is great. Travel is minimized (for those who travel) and limited to weekdays. The benefits package is incredible and the senior leadership heavily stresses our core values of being Smart, Hard-Working, and Humble.

Cons

Because we are growing quickly things can change at the drop of a hat. Client needs are constantly being balanced as we add new clients and you can be moved from team to team as problems arise. If you are flexible it isn't too much of a problem.

Thanks for your insight. Though the phrase is certainly overused, it applies here. Change is really the only constant right now at Catalyst. We are working hard to not let our incredible culture get away from us as we rapidly grow.

Pros

Health Catalyst is doing good things. Healthcare in the US is broken, and Catalyst is doing its best to fix it. The leadership here is absolutely amazing. The CEO takes a personal interest in every employee, senior leadership is as transparent as they can possibly be, and the company treats all of the employees as if they are the most important asset. I've worked at a lot of well-respected companies in my career, and I've never experienced anything like Catalyst.

Cons

This will sound like a bad answer to an interview question, but we are too successful. There is a lot of belief in what we are doing in the healthcare world, and that is leading to a lot of contracts being signed. The company is having a hard time keeping up. We're hiring a lot, and quickly, and probably making a few more questionable hiring decisions than we have historically (although, all in all, we hire very good people). There are the typical communication and process breakdowns attributable to rapid growth, but the good news is that the leadership is ever vigilant about it, and is trying to combat these problems as they arise.

Thanks for the thoughtful words and feedback. We are thinking about how we take advantage of tech talent in other areas of the country, and have had success in the past in tapping into specific areas, and I think as we continue to add managed services clients, this will help us broaden our reach for tech talent. Good thoughts.

Pros

Most places I've worked say stuff about trying to promote a positive team environment and all those buzz words about good workplaces. But Health Catalyst is the only place I've worked where the environment turned out to be exactly as I was told: I've had opportunities to work with people from all parts of the company and each of these has been positive. People are eager to collaborate to help each other. People respond quickly and work together as efficiently and positively as they can. I think the key is that everyone seems to truly believe in the company's goal to transform healthcare.

Cons

The breakroom is stocked with free sodas and insane amounts of snacks. Apparently some people gain weight because of this. BUT, on the plus side, there are also healthy snacks like hummus and carrots. To help you lose the weight you gain from all the chocolate-covered almonds and Mountain Dews. I guess.

I agree that training is important, and we are working to actively tighten the learning curve for new hires. As you well know, we are adding clients so quickly right now we need to find ways to hire, train, and grow amazing new team members.
