Thanks for your review. I’m glad to hear our focus on team members is reflected in your experience. As a leadership team, we are working on our stakeholder strategy, which includes addressing the dual importance of both our technology and our services to our overall company strategy. As we continue to refine these strategic priorities, we will share in our regular all team member meetings, so that each of us can align on goals and focused execution of our 2024 operating plan. Thanks for your more than five years of contributions to our success! -Dan Burton

Pros

The company really tries to listen to team members. I understand the struggles between being a public company and meeting the expectations of Wall-Street, all while trying to provide the best experience for team members. Sometimes when things are tight these two can be in conflict. Health Catalyst tries to maintain that balance with good benefits and flexibility in how and where we are able to work.

Cons

We started out as an outcomes improvement company who was really trying to change healthcare one health system at a time. The move to a publicly traded company has pushed us towards products first and now it feels that the improvement conversations are not even happening. We have developed the 7 question improvement framework as well as the 3 systems approach to outcomes improvement, and those feel like they have fallen by the wayside as the acquired companies and team members haven't been taught or brought to understand the methodologies. It doesn't even feel like we talk about this any more, which is sad because it is our mission.

Thanks for your insightful review. I agree with you that we are an outcomes improvement company and that market realities have been difficult. We have needed to make strategic adjustments that rely on building strong and deep partnerships with our clients, but we must always strive to keep our mission to drive massive measurable improvement as our guide. I believe our tech-enabled managed services offering has incredible potential to ramp up and scale improvement throughout the industry. It helps healthcare organization address efficiency issues, it brings on new world-class team members to Health Catalyst, and we benefit from these new team members’ experiences in driving improvements. We will look for these “win-win-win” scenarios whenever possible. Team member engagement drives our flywheel and is our priority both as a leadership team and myself personally. While we try to live up to all of our values and operating principles, there are times we will fall short. Please keep sharing when that feels like the case. We love and appreciate every team member at Health Catalyst, and will continue to strive to enable every team member’s high engagement in a mission that aims to positively impact every person on the planet. Thanks for you contributions to our success!

Pros

Health Catalyst has a great culture, a really positive mission, and leadership does what they say they’re going to do. Benefits are great, openness and transparency with team members is a refreshing change of pace from anywhere else I’ve worked, and the company really tries to do better, including sharing these reviews directly with team members and addressing any constructive feedback publicly.

Cons

This year has been a really rough year at Catalyst, at least in my department. A change in leadership, and games being played between departments, led to lots of starts and stops, lots of attrition from people unwilling to weather the storm, and a big lack of trust in our department head. The CEO loves and breathes transparency as much as possible, but our department feels like we’re still in the dark, nearly five months after a major shift and everyone asking for more detail, more information, it has been like pulling teeth to understand what our jobs might be in the next three months. Leadership is aware of this lack, and has promised to do better, meanwhile individual contributors still find themselves wondering if/when they will get real information, and team leads are left guessing and reading tea leaves to figure out how to keep developers occupied. I’m sure the new cloud-based platform will be great, but the way it rolled out (over the top of another cloud based platform) has left a sour taste in the mouths of an entire business unit.

Thanks for your contributions for more than 5 years to our company’s success. While I’m glad to hear that you’ve experienced some level of consistency with our cultural values and operating principles, I am sorry that we have fallen short specifically with your department. Communication through change is hard, but that’s not an excuse for behavior you’ve said you’ve witnessed. I hope these items have resolved since you’ve written this review (sorry for my delay in responding!). But, if not, I would love to understand more about your situation specifically and how we can improve. Please set up time to discuss with me or our Chief People Officer, Linda Llewellyn.
