Pros

I've worked here for over 5 years and love the company. We have amazing leaders that do the best they can, even given difficult times. We strive to put team members first, although sometimes, that can impact the sustainability of the company. The benefits are amazing, very competitive HSA contribution (for someone who rarely uses medical insurance, this is like free money), all team members get stock in the company and we have 19 or 20 paid holidays?! My manager supports a flexible work schedule, I never have to worry about going to a soccer game or school program and feel guilty. I have a very supportive manager to allows me to be creative and grow, I learn something new every day!

Cons

Our team is small, we do a lot with a little and we have for years. That can be demotivating at times that we can't expand our team. It can be hard to see significant investments in some areas that don't produce results, but not in areas that consistently overperform. I realize I only see a small piece of the puzzle and I have confidence in our leadership team that they are making the best decisions for everyone.

Thank you for your feedback and for your 5+ years of contributions at Health Catalyst! I appreciate your perspective and the challenging balance between transparency and having a fully baked plan of action or path forward. This is always a judgment call, and particularly over the past six months, we've striven to do out best to find that balance. When in doubt, we do typically err in favor of transparency, which has upside in building trust, but it can cause added concern as we develop and then execute on the plan of action. I appreciate your patience as we do our best in uncertain times to navigate through and find success. Happy New Year! Best, Dan

Pros

Health Catalyst is like the friend that everybody needs. I'm a new mom and a seasoned employee and this past year has been the most challenging yet rewarding year of my life as I navigated the waters of attempting to balance motherhood and my career. There were many ups and downs, but I can wholeheartedly say that the Health Catalyst culture was always there to support me. As many women might be able to relate, telling your employer that you’re pregnant can be stressful no matter who they might be. Something about telling the person who supplies your paycheck that you’re going to need some time off, preferably paid, and will come back in a few months a whole new person, can be frightening. Not at Health Catalyst. In a time when I needed support the most, Health Catalyst was there to offer theirs. I quickly became a member of the momma_life Slack channel and was humbled by the beautiful community of mothers within the company. When I returned to work, the thought of being away from my baby for long periods was initially too much to bear. Thankfully, Health Catalyst promotes values such as putting your family first and a flexible work environment. In fact, there were a few times when my son made an appearance at Zoom meetings, and I’ll never forget the patience and kindness my teammates extended to me with open arms. When I fell into postpartum depression, Tava (one of the great benefits they offer) was there to help with their online therapy sessions. Finding a therapist can be overwhelming, especially when waiting until the last minute. Tava made it easy, and I would have never known about this wonderful platform if it weren’t for Health Catalyst. I can happily say that the help of this benefit, along with other factors, has aided tremendously in my postpartum depression recovery! The first time my son got sick, he wanted nothing more than to be with his mom. The supportive and understanding culture at Health Catalyst allowed me to be with my son at a moment’s notice. My teammates were incredibly understanding when I had to put work on the backend for a few days. They have been extremely supportive this entire journey. That’s the Health Catalyst way. When I had baby weight to lose and felt insecure, I frequented the gym at our South Jordan office. It is a beautiful, clean facility that offers excellent instructor-led classes. Not having the anxiety of signing up for a new gym after having a baby was a huge, yet often overlooked, relief for me. I found happiness coming into the office anytime my schedule allowed for it. After the isolation from a pandemic and a new baby, the office felt like my second home. A place I could come to connect with others when my son went to daycare. My favorite part of the office are the Mothers’ Rooms. Each room has a comfortable chair, mini-refrigerator, and calming atmosphere. The fact that those private rooms were available to me at the office meant that I felt included and invited, no matter what my needs as a mother were. I could probably go on all day about how Health Catalyst supported me as a new mother - battling the polarity of wanting to keep her career while also focusing on this beautiful new life that was brought into the world - but I think what I am trying to say is thank you, Health Catalyst. Thank you for the amazing company culture and for setting the bar for other organizations, especially regarding delicate topics such as maternity/paternity leave and return.

Cons

Could use more focus on base salaries for existing team members.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful and encouraging feedback. Your experience as a working mom is certainly what we strive to enable, and is a specific example of the way in which we want every team member at Health Catalyst to feel valued, loved, cared for, respected, and provided with flexibility and support in their work and in their lives. Thank you for sharing these uplifting comments. These are challenging times for the world, for our nation, for our economy and for health care. It's refreshing and energizing, even amidst these challenges, to find the good, to express gratitude, to see the positives. This is living the Health Catalyst Way, and I'm thankful for your example. Also, we'll keep focusing on base salaries for existing team members -- absolutely! Best, Dan

Pros

The Executive Team genuinely cares about their employees, both at work and as people. We have a wonderful mission and core values.

Cons

I think we are seeing some of the negative effects of focusing on positive EBITDA rather than solely on growth. Projects are not as well resourced as they need to be to succeed.

Thank you for your review and feedback, and I'm grateful that you feel the care and concern that leaders feel for each team member at Health Catalyst. Thank you also for your feedback of the challenges of getting to profitability. This is definitely a challenging achievement to reach, and is one reason most startups never reach profitability. It does require sacrifice and judgment and discipline, no question. I'm really proud of the company's achievement of positive adjusted EBITDA in Q1 and Q2 of 2022, and am excited for us to achieve full-year positive Adjusted EBITDA in 2023. This is a strong signal of the sustainability of our company's business model. I also appreciate your feedback around the challenges of integrating multiple acquisitions. I do believe that we'll have some time over the coming months to continue to focus on great integration, while public and private market valuation expectations come into closer alignment with one another. We'll strive to continue to set a very high bar before pursuing an acquisition moving forward. Thanks again for your feedback! Best, Dan
