Pros

Executive team and management are accessible and reflect the values and mission of the company. Great benefits and work/life balance values. Base pay is excellent and good opportunities for bonus pay and ownership stake in the company

Cons

The company emphasizes collaboration and communication within and amongst teams and while I enjoy working in that kind of environment, it is not always a great fit for some people.

Thank you very much for your constructive thoughts on how we can continue to improve. As a management team, our goal is to do everything we can to embody the values that got us to this point, and do our best to live up to the trust our fellow team member/owners place in us when they show up to work every day, give everyone their best, and make Catalyst the best it can be.

Pros

This company truly cares about each individual employee. Cultural attributes of being humble, hard working, and smart are valued here. The company gives me time to strengthen my skill set and "sharpen the saw." Family and work life balance is extremely great here. Management is filled with highly capable and smart people who continue to lead this company to great success.

Cons

The only challenges I've faced while working here have been with individual employees. I have experienced very prideful people who don't take feedback well and who are not team players. Those individuals were a drag on the department and have since left. You must be a team player who can positively take feedback from others to succeed at any company.

Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback. We take this very seriously and are truly interested in what you have to say. With regard to your specific advice around managing employees that do not fit within the Catalyst culture, I could not agree more. If I might state it slightly differently, being nice is not the same thing as being transparent. In fact, if Catalyst managers are not sharing honest, candid feedback with their employees about their performance and behavior in order to "not rock the boat", this in fact is not being nice-- as you pointed out, it does a disservice to all involved. We talk about this quite a bit as a leadership team. How do we make sure our managers don't mistake "being nice" with not candidly managing difficult situations? There is not a universal or easy answer to this question, but we are trying. I want you to know that I personally think a lot about this issue, as I see it as core to our success over the next few years-- we must be able to scale our awesome culture attributes and operating principles as we scale from 300 employees to 3,000 employees (which, by the way, is where I think we are headed over the next 5-7 years). We are actively working on this. I would love additional thoughts, feedback, and critiques on how we are doing. Would love to see other responses on this forum from Catalyst employees. Would also welcome anyone to contact me directly if they would like to discuss. Thanks everyone. Jeff Selander jeff.selander@healthcatalyst.com
