Pros

I can only speak as to how the IT department was. And specifically mangers and directors. There are some really great passionate people who do the day to day work but it is stifled at best. 1. you get to leave at some point. 2. it pays the bills. 3. there are worse things...cant think of them off the top of my head but if i try i think i can. 4. the people that work here, like actually work, are passionate and professional about the quality of work. 5. some people get random paid days off by surprise. Its like Christmas but with lawyers. 6. you do get to play with some cool technology.

Cons

1. work life balance is equal to that of a one legged hamster in a wheel. 2. fear factor but with real world consequences...like your job and all. 3. Helen Keller listens more than the management here. 4. No vision, direction or vision to get direction. 5. Soul sucking and very draining. too much to do and too many fires to put out to make a real difference.

Pros

*most* of the employees in IT are awesome people to work with an genuinely care about moving the company forward -- this doesn't include anyone above a manager level.

Cons

This is specifically related to the culture of the IT department at the business center. I can't speak for other areas. 1. Everyone works in fear of losing their jobs. 2. Employees who work hard are rewarded with even more work. 3. Employees are micromanaged by directors instead of letting managers be leaders to their teams. 4. Employees who have opinions against management are chastised and even written up. They have even gone as far as to attempt to fire people but HR could not find just cause. 5. If you are considered to be friends with people whom management does not like, you will have zero opportunity to move to a different department or receive a promotion. 6. Management has been hiring people who are not qualified for positions because they don't want technically capable employees, they want people who will blindly follow. Their justification is "well qualified people leave too quickly."
