Pros

Decent salary and benefits package.

Cons

HR favors bad managers with no leadership skills over lower level employees that are mistreated, misguided and treated like trash. I tell everyone that asks me about this company that it should be called “Hell Equity”.

Crippled With Fear

Pros

A solid mission of providing health benefits in a way that can lead to individual wealth. The mission is where the pros list ends on the product and engineering side of the company. The operations side of the house seems like a solid place to work, and the team members in those groups seem dedicated and genuinely happy to be here.

Cons

Engineering is lead by a bully CTO that has transitioned from a healthy amount of product growth to a fear driven culture with so many oversights and roadblocks to delivery that literally nothing gets done on many “teams” in a matter of less than a year. I quote teams because an unjustified RIF had already crippled a lot of them, and what we really have is pairs of engineers trying to do the work of 5-7 people. The amount of pointless meetings is insane and inane, across the board. Cutting your entire Test engineer organization, and then expecting an increase in quality just means nothing is delivered.

Thanks for providing this feedback, which we will share with our technology leaders. We are glad to hear that you resonate with our remarkable mission. Following the hire of our new CTO last year, HealthEquity began a technology transformation. That transformation has unfortunately necessitated reductions in force in our Technology Department that helped us realign our skill strategy with our future-state vision. Those decisions were made carefully, applying specific business criteria, by the appropriate senior leaders. We encourage you to take any remaining concerns to your leaders or the People Team. We appreciate your contributions.

Pros

The company stock bonus program is good!

Cons

Stock bonus is future money with constant layoffs this can be pie in the sky. The technology stack is archaic, never seen something like this. Most devs have absolutely no idea how to solve problems rather defer to patches and bandaids. A lot of yelling and scrambling in team meetings, non developers are out touch and ignorant to the plight of the devs While they boast about purple culture, in all honesty the engagement is pretty mediocre and it's difficult to contrast your work with others as everyone tries to act like they do actual work when really a couple of people do all the heavy lifting.
