Pros

Low cost way to start your own business brokerage that has hundreds of companies to work with

Cons

Health insurance industry which Obamacare has completely turn upside down. If you do decide to go with health markets you need to look your contract over very carefully. If you leave and are not successful you will end up owing a pretty big debt usually. Their focus is their overall bottom line and does not support the agent the way it should. A lot of your experience will depend on where you live and who you work for.

Pros

Health Markets is putting alot of money into advertising.

Cons

You are an employee, don't kid yourself. But a contractor on paper with none of the benefits of being an employee. You are required to attend weekly meetings or face consequences; your personal income is made public at meetings and through email (not just production, your paycheck!); your territory manager tells you that you cannot get a part-time job or "we'll have to have a talk"; you get a load of harassment emails about your productivity even when you are following the contract that you signed that gives guidelines for being a career agent.

Pros

Open Enrollment can be profitable with supplements (dental, vision, accident etc.) Some of the supervising staff wants you to succeed genuinely

Cons

You can sale health policies as fast as you can during open enrollment but getting paid for them is painstakingly slow. Not all but most supervisor level (Sales Leaders) want you to succeed for them not for you. If you ask a question or think outside of the box about situations within the company then you are shunned. (Always wanting you to "Drink the Kool-Aid") Have to figure out most things yourself (Even as a new agent in the industry)
