Pros

Being relatively young, getting some work that has a real impact is a genuine resume builder rather than typical lower impact work young professionals would find elsewhere. Excluding management, everyone is a genuine pleasure to work with and as far as I can tell, most people feel the same way. If it wasn't for the (hopefully taken down by the time you read this) management-planted review on March 25, 2019, it would have been a 2-star review. The immaturity and blatant attempt to inflate the average review score is shameful. The office has incredible views of downtown Milwaukee, especially Lake Michigan. Free donut Thursday mornings and free beer Fridays at 3:30pm. If you’re a close friend or family member of management, you will be treated well here.

Cons

Be prepared to be paid lower than your market value and to often work more than 40 hours per week without any overtime potential. You will be taken for granted in a thankless job and be set up to inevitably fail. Considering how small the business is, the copious communication breakdowns are baffling. Management is seldom on the same page as employees creating surprises and fires which end up being the employees’ faults every time apparently. Priorities are nonsensical since everything is a high priority. For example, I had an 18-hour day to get a project out on time. Upon its completion, the management recipient told me “I’ll look at it next week”. If that’s so, why was my extension request denied? Why wasn’t even a simple “thank you” given? The next week I worked 39 hours and got an informal warning for not working 40 hours without taking PTO without any regard given I worked 50+ hours the week prior. Office politics are rampant, but it seems most people are pussyfooting around it. Rockstars have been let go for mysterious reasons while underperformers have stuck around for quite some time. Hiring friends and family might have made sense when it was a startup trying to survive early on, but now it has created a culture of insiders and outsiders. Life is great if you’re on the inside as you have total job security regardless of performance. Having family members give performance evaluations to each other is a pretty clear conflict of interest that's swept under the rug.

Healthfuse Response

People first, mission always. Healthfuse focuses on protecting and strengthening hospitals’ financial situations so they can focus on creating healthier patient communities. This mission is a bold one and the reason for our existence. To accomplish it, we have high standards for ourselves, and our clients have high expectations of us. We also love our employees and work hard to create a positive environment where they can thrive. We encourage open communication, and provide tools, so we can help our employees succeed. But at the end of the day, our culture and mission are not for everyone. While we hate seeing this negative comment, we only wish this previous employee all the best in their future endeavors. We also hope those evaluating Healthfuse, and reading this review, consider other positive reviews, and Healthfuse’s focus on both mission and our people.

Pros

Management is extremely flexible and allows not only flexible start and end times but also remote work. Work is challenging and never boring and allows growth faster than would happen in other companies. Working at Healthfuse has been one of the best choices I have made for professional growth. Highly recommended.

Cons

This job can extend beyond full time hours (40+) but this is usually due to employees not being able to stop thinking about how to help our clients. This is more than a job, is a passion.
