Pros

Beautiful work location, prestigious magazines

Cons

Staff cuts means everyone is doing the work of 2 or 3 other people who got fired. Salaries are rapidly sinking because, as HR likes to say, "the industry is recalibrating." There is no value in having 20+ years experience and the salary commensurate with that; Hearst hires junior people at low salaries and doesn't care about the quality of work they can provide.

Pros

After two years on the sales side, I decided to start looking for other sales jobs. The pros here in Norwalk are few, but I will admit the new office is very nice.

Cons

Management is weak, condescending and has no problem in churning sales reps quickly if they don't hit numbers (most of this office is turned over every six months). Unfortunately, this is the culture that has been created from the top. Selling digital and print newspaper ads via cold calling is a pretty tough gig these days. Also, there are stronger competitors.

Pros

None that I can think of.

Cons

Completely decimated Rodale and its staff. The ones that are left feel like sitting ducks. The ones that were let go were like the Walking Dead. No direction from Hearst in the slightest especially to the employees that were left behind especially by the ones that were in charge of the move and transition
