I’ve worked in human services for nearly 12 years, and this was by far my worst experience. There was little to no training. When I needed guidance I was told to “figure it out”. While hospitalized, I was harassed to get my doctor’s notes in and put my time off request into their system. I was ultimately let go for misuse of time off and for “not meeting expectations”, which was basically that they did not feel that I was being friendly enough in the office. This agency is for profit, and it was frustrating to see families sit on the waitlists forever because of what insurance coverage the child had. I also overheard the marketing team talking about having to find a stock photo of someone “looking autistic enough” for the agency’s brochures. It was really difficult for me to work here as I am very passionate about helping families get the services and resources their children deserve. In addition, PTO was HORRIBLE. 10 days total for vacation and sick, as well as only maybe 7 paid holidays.
