No investment in employee development

Pros

Better than market total compensation.

Cons

There is little to no investment in the employee in terms of defined career development and path. Extremely limited upward mobility, especially in back office functions (IT, HR, Finance), which have become weak as a result of people sitting in the same positions for years (innovation and productivity killer). The executive management lacks diversity (in thought and many other ways) and has an arrogance in terms of how markets outside N.A. should work, but don't.

A high paying company that is very political

Pros

Benefits are well above average. They have a pension, 11 holidays, very inexpensive medical, 401k, 2 weeks of vacation and an alternate work schedule that gives you the opportunity to work 80 hours in 9 days and get day 10 off in a two week schedule. Essentially you get every other Friday off in the summer but still work your 40 hours each week. The pension is very generous but I think they do this because there are no bonuses. They are very generous during raise time almost always exceeding the CPI increase %. I can only remember 2009 being the only year no raise and no 401k match happened but that was extreme. If you are working for money and that’s it with no desire to move up or to be developed this is the place for you. You will make good money here.

Cons

A very wasteful organization, very clicky and political, if you are an “A” level employee but not in the right social group within the company you will never go anywhere. Conversely, if you are in the right group and are not very good at your job it doesn't matter you will ascend to the top. Also, a company that is overstaffed in HR. Pay close attention to the one star and 4-5 star ratings on here then ask yourself, are these real employees? I left because I was not in the right social group, busted my tail and was expected to return unrealistic results with out of touch senior leadership. Hendrickson is a job that will pay you big dollars for your job you are hired in to do but beware that you may never go anywhere. So if you are 50+ and looking to coast for 5-10 years this is the place for you. Another word of advice is if you decide to work for Hendrickson, don’t be afraid to negotiate a high salary when going in because they will pay it and are used to overpaying people on a regular basis.

Pros

Good home/work ratio. Competitive pay and benefits package. Opportunities for promotions. Great employee development! Excellent work space and work environment.

Cons

At times, Hendrickson can be very old school, set in their ways and won't think outside of the box which can get frustrating.
