Henry County BOC reviews

The pay is horrible in certain departments. One example; Technology Services. Some people over there are making well below the 25th percentile for the job titles and duties they perform. Surrounding counties are seeing pay increases in upwards of 6% and yearly merit increases. Henry County doesn't even have merit increases. Public safety pay is much lower than surrounding counties. No training budget at all for most departments. When department heads request training budget, pay raises, etc, they are refused. Some departments are considered "fully staffed" but in reality are majorly understaffed. Communication between the BOC and some department heads are severely lacking. It seems that you have to be on some special list to get what you need for your department.

Because it is a government organization, opportunities for promotion is limited. They are vastly behind on emerging technology trends. This will be a good work environment for someone who wants a small, feel, family-friendly environment and GREAT bonuses. However, for younger people like myself, you may feel a bit out of place. Additionally, salary compensation can be on the lower-end.
