Pros

All management has been promoted from within so they've walked in your shoes. All in all not a bad company- it shows with all the people who have worked there 10,20 or 30 plus years.

Cons

Sometimes long hours for new employees. They get better with experience.

Pros

In hindsight there were no pros to mention.

Cons

Company is focused on religion and does nothing to hide this fact. If you like religion than this is the company for you. Unrealistic expectations and I cannot STRESS this point enough! Expect to put in 70 hour work weeks for peanuts basically. And for a company that stresses religion obviously they have no concerns for your family life. And management will blame the route sales people for taking too long in their daily activities. In a nutshell, the route sales position consists of you advertising for Herr's. You are pressured to get as much product exposure and placement as possible. It does not matter to management if products sell, as long as you are showing growth on paper. Management is obviously rewarded for getting the route people to get as many displays as physically possible. Management does not listen to employee feedback. And do not expect any sympathy from them for the long hours you are putting in. Herr's stresses the route sales position you are running is your own business. Herr's sends you to corporate for a week long orientation which stresses driver safety training and sales tactics. During the training you will hear over and over how the trainers stress that many of their employees have made long successful stays at the Herr's company. Turnover at this company is extremely HIGH. Expect to be placed on the worst routes as there is a reason these routes are open. Management will pass the blame as to why the route is failing on the previous route sales persons assigned to this route. During the interview process they will mention you will have to work a few select Saturdays. Beware that all the Saturdays will be on weeks with holidays. Hence you will work a 6 day work week, and the following week will require 6 days to catch up from your 2 days off. You will never have a 3 day weekend by the Herr's schedule. Rewards for sales contests are pathetic. Employees generally view the rewards as a joke.

Pros

CUSTOMERS, some fellow employees , definitely not managers

Cons

As someone mentioned before, why post positions that are already taken. Lots of back door deals with the" it " people. Company has guides to follow for advancement but they are not followed if you are hand picked for a job or have friends in the right places, especially south jersey. You can be a total screw up but if you are liked, no consequences and probably even promotions Quit the company, they'll hire you back and even promote you.
