Pros

Benefits are great. 4 weeks vacation time in first year Tuition reimbursement Fleet privileges at manager level (no gas, no insurance) Atmosphere is typically fun. Everyone has a good attitude of enjoying their job but being focused on driving results. If you want to be promoted it is completely in your control. Ask for more and do a good job opportunities are endless.

Cons

Often times management is more concerned about how they will look in a situation than how it effects employees lives. Having the opposite attitude has pushed me to the outside. Initiatives change quicker than you can react to them and suddenly management is confused why goals cannot be accomplished. High turnover at entry level with little change to make job more competitive leaves positions open for a long time. Mention this as an issue and you are suddenly considered a weaker manager/leader. Sometimes it can take 7-9 months to fill an entry level spot. Leaving a branch understaffed and stressed during that time. Eventually leading to more turnover.

Good Talent, Poor Corporate Leadership

Pros

As a long term employee with Hertz I've seen both highs and lows with the company. There is a good work/life balance, benefits used to be good but are just so-so now. Flexible schedules, good work environment/coworker knowledge/camaraderie are the only real highlights currently.

Cons

The company has gone from once thriving to now cutting off it's nose to spite it's face in the form of outsourcing the entire IT division. Pension and ESPP plans were done away with in the past few years, health benefit options are below average now and pay has not kept up with that of the greater NYC metro area.

Disappointment

Pros

You get a small raise most years. In some areas of the company, you have a good bit of scheduling flexibility which is a nice perk. Fitness center and cafeteria on-site at the Technology center. Food is not the best, but it's not the worst either.

Cons

The new IT management is horrible. They think they know all there is to know and they don't need you or your input on anything. The insurance is not very good. Old building and equipment.
