Pros

You will learn great customer service techniques/experience. In addition to that you will gain valuable general office experience attached to a full time job. In other words it is a great resume builder for me. Not only that, but you do help run a branch and help manage day to day logistics. Time management/multi-tasking is another great thing. You will gain more experience on cars, insurance companies, card companies, and computer skills.

Cons

You will have to work long hours on low pay, and deal with many interrupted plans/inconveniences. In addition to that you will be pressured to make almost impossible sales goals or face being written up. Three write ups and you are eligible for termination. This doesn't matter how hard you work, sweat, and go out of your way, without the sales you're slowly on your way out. If you can't convince people to buy overpriced insurance when they already pay for their own, do not go for this job.

Pros

Hertz has been rated one of the worst employers in the nation, and after working there for a year I experienced first hand why that is. Commission is nothing to write home about, but can be decent depending on the location and city you work in.

Cons

Long Hours (I worked 70+ hrs a week) with poor hourly pay and commission grades. If you work at a location that makes decent up sales and has a consistent line of clientele (insurance rentals) commission is not that bad. The dress code is business professional ( slacks, dress shoes, button down shift and tie) and they have you cleaning the cars which ends up messing up your professional attire. I could understand wearing slacks and a polo, but not a button up shirt thats going to get ruined in no time. Worst retail/management job I have ever had in my professional career.

Pros

Not the kind of job you get to sit at a desk all day, even though once in awhile you will. Constantly moving, get to drive new and exciting vehicles. Also, within the first 2 months you get to travel out of town for training which is paid for by Hertz (nice hotel, lunch/dinner reimbursement) The excitement comes from never knowing what customer will walk through the door

Cons

No actual hands on training, Branch bonuses are slim to none. Hostile work environment
