Pros

Hertz will make you a well rounded manager if you can learn how to get things done on your own and are willing to take risks to do the right thing

Cons

Lack of experience at the top is causing the company to lose it's competitive position. The brand is losing its luster.

Pros

pay is ok, good coworkers. company trying to become employee friendly. added wii and ping pong and softball

Cons

sr mgmt keeps cutting expenses for employees but spends lavishly on themselves. has boondoggle yearly meeting, costs $2m, but is a waste. chairman and sr mgmt use company plane for leisure. schedule annual trip to london in july to watch wimbeldon finals. jet off to greece for a night, no business purpose. some members of sr mgmt are talking heads, not thoughts or leadership. promotions very rare. after putting in 12-13 hour days and weekends, only comment from sr mgmt was to put in a bigger effort. have massive layoffs then spend 500k on luxury box at giants stadium

Pros

-The people around you are generally good to work with. -Use of company cars is very helpful, especially when traveling. -Hertz employees in other areas take care of you. -If you can make it to a level where you dont have to work goofy days/hours, work is usually decent and you go home happy with the job you have done. -Most others at your level are able to give advice or help out as long as you ask pointed questions.

Cons

-The higher up the chain you go, the more corporate politics and bureaucracy are present. -Do not disagree, or ask your boss to provide the logic behind the choices made. This is not a logical company. -Current culture is "every man for himself." This means do not share information. You are supposed to hope that others fail, otherwise upper management will train their eyes on you. -Upper management currently has the mentality that they need to "move the furniture" in order to make things look new so that when Park Ridge or consultants come in to judge them, they can show how they changed things. It may not be for the better, but as long as the setup is different, the higher ups seem to like it. -Very hard to get straight answers out of supervisors. If you have not worked at Hertz for 25 years, no one really cares about you.
