Pros

The pay and benefits for a manager in South Florida aren't too bad. There are many ways to make extra money - from commission to quarterly bonuses. You can add your "live-in" boyfriend or girlfried to your health insurance. The discount for you and all of you immediate family on rentals is excellent. Family members can use the discount anywhere in the USA at anytime. You do build considerable experience at managing several people at once and dealing with customers and clients. Hertz does still have a traditional pension plan as well as a 401K plan.

Cons

The have wittled away at some of our benefits (ie. less sick days, no more matching 401K and no more college reimbursement). You'll be washing a few cars every day as a manager. You'll be CONSTANTLY barraged with ways to "save the company money" (ie. cut employees overtime, do not order office supplies, no purchase orders, etc.)

Pros

There is a significant opportunity for career growth for entry level Management Trainees in the Off Airport division known as HLE. HLE focuses on the insurance replacement car rental niche.

Cons

The greatest downside, particularly as a college graduate, is that the work of a Management Trainee is not what you dreamed about during Accounting 101. The average branch functions with only a MT, an Assistant Branch Manager and a Branch Manager. These three employees perform all the work. We rent cars, clean cars and deliver cars. MTs do more of the grunt work than the BM or ABM, but I see it as paying my dues.

Pros

Hertz is the number one rental car company in the world. Everyone knows about them. Hertz has the largest collection of cars that updates frequently. Hertz has everything from budget economy cars to large SUVs and convertible sports cars. All cars Hertz has are available to drive and clean. Despite how some people who posted Hertz employment reviews elsewhere; I enjoy cleaning cars, even while wearing a suit and tie. You get to work with a very diverse group of co-workers and customers. And if you keep your sales numbers on the high side, you are promised promotions and commissions.

Cons

All Hertz jobs focuses on selling and marketing of optional services: loss damage waivers, gas, upgrades, lower class cars, etc. It seems like that in order to be successful within Hertz, you must sell these thing consistently. And you are trained to 'sell' anything, even to downright lie to customers if they don't get what they wanted or reserved. Hours are always long, from before 7 am to after store closing at 6 pm, but do get paid overtime. Customers are expectant of high praise and customer service from the world's largest rental car company and it pains some that we could not deliver sometimes.
