Pros
The faculty and staff are mostly kind & committed to their professions, The surroundings are beautiful. The area has a very reasonable cost of living.
Cons
HPU tends to only hire from within because they can “protect” the culture (i.e. they promote people that will not cause problems for them and they can’t hire externally because they don’t pay well enough). Very unhealthy, toxic leadership at every level. Leadership does not respect the Academy, its history, nor its role in society aside from “training.” They also do not provide any leadership development at all because 1) it doesn’t make money and instead costs money, and 2) they don’t need to because their leaders only need to follow direction and tow the line.
