Working for this institution may give you the connections you are looking for if you fully buy into the system, but there is a large cost that comes with that.

Cons

The administration of this university is one of the most out of touch bureaucratic systems that I have encountered in an educational institution. You as an employee are nothing but disposable to them, and they continue to manipulate their staffs because they think that their employees are that easily replaceable.

Pros

Beautiful, safe campus, friendly staff and faculty, supportive colleagues and a flexibile schedule.

Cons

Abysmal, non/competitive pay, horrible senior management who only care about aggressive marketing, building non-academic buildings and pushing a Kool-aid drinking agenda. If you leave you’re basically shunned and if you talk negatively about the place they tell you to be grateful for oxygen. They made parking a nightmare for faculty and staff but students are allowed to have 2 cars on campus. The student is God and can do nothing wrong. Faculty and staff are treating like second/third class citizens.

You get a really nice gift at the beginning of every school year. Really sold base salary for someone right out of grad school. The First Year Writing Program is headed by some awesome people You care about education.

Cons

Expected to drink the corporate kool-aid. Use instructors and other non-tenure track folks until they burn out. The reputation of the school matters more than its academic rigor. Conservative student population that expect to be catered to and are afraid of being challenge.
