      No raises, compensation reviews, or promotions - ever

      Pros

      Young employees are given substantial management and leadership opportunities they wouldn't get elsewhere because they don't want to pay market rate for employees with experience. Even when they do, they always leave when they expect a raise every few years and get nothing.

      Cons

      As mentioned - no raises or promos. No RSUs, no cash incentives (at least at my level I'm told - despite my having received them at other companies) I was told the bonus paid out at 100% on average over the last few years when I joined - that's a lie, I rarely see it pay out above 80%. So this company is so cheap that when they offer you your bare bones salary they really never intend to pay you all of it.

      Pros

      Hitachi was a great place to start learning. You get a lot of freedom - maybe too much and ability to write your own path a bit. I loved the people I worked with and that was absolutely the best part - that being said make sure you "creating" your own path is the "right" path.

      Cons

      Otherwise you'll be let go. There have been rounds of layoffs since 2016 and it's been confirmed that another recent round 2019. The company is struggling financially and this "new vision" clearly isn't working. In order to meet operating income responsibilities to corporate Hitachi Consulting has resorted to taking the easy way out and firing people. Between layoffs and pay/budget freezes who knows anymore. It's not sustainable and not growing. Beware. Go find a consulting firm that is! There are plenty of them.
