Pros

- If you manage to get a good manager that shields you and your team, allows for hybrid work, and if you have a supportive team around you, you can at least enjoy a good work life balance. This is luck based as there are many depressed teams with bad or helpless managers here as well. - Respected if in upper management or executive level and doing things that make others lives easier. - Somewhat smart managers. Occasional smart execs.

Cons

- Continuously bleeding talent due to low pay and excessive offshoring. They have to go where they can to best survive rising costs. - Somewhat delusional and idiotic C-Suite, but nice people. - Clear signal many have been there a long time and are simply guessing at their jobs, hoping someone else will figure out the hard problems for them somehow. - Arbitrary goals meant for motivation that the company is not on any track to come remotely close to achieving. It's clear goals are set before plans of execution by people who do not know how to execute. Anyone can do that. - Dishonest CEO about outlook. The numbers don't lie. They're trying though. - Doesn't even use their own hardware products (too expensive, not willing to hire talent required to run said hardware, too complicated, likely for reasons below). Instead, they pay even more money to AWS and thus to their competitors. Short sighted Neanderthals. - If you're based in India, prepare to be overworked and yelled at. It will suck, but it may be better than other options. - Company losing market share YoY in North America because it can't compete on the hardware side. Other regions are not growing nearly enough to compensate. Tariffs are likely to exacerbate this issue to the point of something breaking, however the subsidiary is still a private company so they may simply weather it out. Who knows. Hard to say at this time what the true outcome is. Depends on what parent company Hitachi Ltd wants to do with a bleeding subsidiary that they don't understand. - Excessively offshores to the detriment of the business, market share and morale. Indians hire Indians (same at many companies, not unique to this company, but incredibly egregious here). More and more senior management and executives becoming Indians, and thus continue the excessive offshoring train specifically to India.. Hard to impossible to hire ANY other region unless physically required. Indian recruiters will only submit Indian candidates and thus you can't trust their judgment to be impartial on candidates. Can be seen as a strong pro depending on where you're from of course, but overall it's causing this subsidiary to be crippled with poor execution (and who can blame anyone when the pay is so low). - Japan and Hitachi Ltd seem clueless. It's clear they care fundamentally, but don't actually understand what they're looking at and witnessing. They see the blood but not the wound. Not enough Japanese leadership coming down low enough to see the issues, or don't understand cultural barriers and dishonesty. - Pentaho is the laughing stock of the industry, if anyone had a sense of humor. It's horrible software. You would only use it if you have ancient processes dependent on it. - Hit by ransomware attack, sells and advertises solutions that protect against ransomware attacks. Wonder why they were likely hit? See above points.
