Pros

Lots of networking. The guest can be very friendly at time. You never know who you will com across.

Cons

IHG is fine, just make sure the people who own the hotel are not micromanage and make your life a living hell.. (caution to anybody in Columbia,South Carolina "two notch road"). The hours, no holiday pay, extremely high turnover.

Pros

Hands-on, real world experience as you engage with employees from various backgrounds and travelers from around the state of Missouri, the country and even the world. Very flexible with scheduling.

Cons

Professionalism from management lacks, which results in high employee turnover. There are no benefits or a feeling of inclusion for part-time employees. Managers teach you to "fear" the owners of the property. Very limited growth for a career.

Pros

My job consisted of doing accounting work for all four of their hotels in Athens, GA. I specifically did the daily audit for the Holiday Inn. Although I had done accounting work before, there audit is very specific, and I received great training from the women I worked with. My supervisor and boss were both very nice.

Cons

I was paid $9.25 an hour, but the women who I worked with who worked full time made no more than $12 an hour. I was a college student at the time, and being PT I thought my salary was average, but the FT workers were treated unfairly. I heard from someone who works there still that things have gotten a lot better, and I hope they have because while I was there the women were treated as disposable, when they were a huge asset to the business.
