Worst job I've ever had.

Pros

Be your own boss pretty much. You're lucky to get a decent truck every now and then, especially when you're the only driver with a CDL.

Cons

They run you all over the place and strictly commission. They don't tell you what they're paying, and after my first check I know why. Clients are often less than understanding. Sometimes ice is going to melt if you're in and out of the truck 20 times a day in 100+ degrees.

Pros

Worked here starting my sophomore year in college and worked for year after graduation (2012-2015). Was hard to leave with the money I was making and the flexibility that the job allowed. Worked around school schedule very well and would make changes depending on my needs. Management was very open to my ideas/ thoughts and after a bit of time on the job trusted me to make routing decisions. They have gotten some new trucks in that will make the job even easier, reduce hours, hold more ice to make more money, and be able to use pallet jack for deliveries.

Cons

It was hard work, but compensated fairly for it. Worked in all weather conditions (rain, hot, cold), but management would call off on real cold or unsafe days to be on the road (winter).

Thank you for your service to Home City Ice and thank you for the feedback. We take a great deal of pride in providing students an opportunity to have flexible schedules so they can work and go to school. We have actually implemented a tuition reimbursement program to help with the cost as well. - Human Resources

Pros

Flexible hours commission pay- your paycheck is up to you, the harder you work the more money you make Great environment and managers Great for students, their "busy" season is in the summer and accept seasonal employees Potential to build a career out of it if you're willing to work you can make well above minimum wage if once you build your speed at stacking ice

Cons

work holidays very physical work rarely finish at the same time each day, one day you can work a 6 hour shift and the next day it can be 10 hours, varies on your route and how much ice they take
