Pros

High income potential for top salespeople

Cons

Long-term revenue (and compensation) model is based on high renewal rates, which are not materializing. Only a small percentage of SA's are meeting quota due to chargebacks from unhappy subscribers who don't renew. Homes.com sales success in the first 16 months after their re-launch (Feb 2024) were due to no assigned territories and SA's being able to target low-hanging fruit nationwide. With strict territories, that's no longer the case. Turnover is high, employees are just cogs in the revenue wheel. Lots of talented people are leaving (over 50% of my sales team).

Pros

Solid benefits package. Amazing colleagues. Parking at the CoStar offices for concerts and events in downtown Richmond was a huge perk.

Cons

Compensation was great when I first started, but constant changes to the commission structure worked against the sales reps making it harder and harder to earn extra income. By the end of my time, I was barely seeing anything above my base salary on my paychecks. Management is a mess. but I guess that depends on what team your on and what division you're in. I know there are some great Directors there, however, my experience was entirely tainted due to being assigned to a newly hired supervisor that was too inexperienced to offer any value, too power hungry to learn anything new from his veteran reps, and too afraid to speak up and represent his team to upper management. The product is also problematic. It simply doesn't deliver on the promise of helping agents make more money, sell homes faster, yada yada yada.
