Pros

Everyone at HH is dedicated and passionate about the industry. There are so many wonderful opportunities to learn and grow as a professional.

Cons

The industry changed significantly as brick and mortar retailers have been challenged by online sales channels. HH has a long road ahead to align with that new business model.

Pros

Efficient and professional management. If you work well then the cross training will come and helps to keep the day interesting. Friendly coworkers willing to help out.

Cons

Work hours and load tend to be very seasonal. Heavy in the winter and light in the summer. End of day hours fluctuate based on day of the week and time of month.

Pros

Fun work life, great opportunities & benefits, family oriented culture, people actually care about you.

Cons

-Upper management would sometimes argue among each other. -Old school style office layout makes it hard to collaborate & communicate when everyone is behind closed doors.

Horizon Hobby Response

Thanks for sharing your experience of working for Horizon. You are absolutely correct--we DO actually care about our coworkers! Many great friendships (and even marriages) have formed at Horizon. We strive to hire the best and provide a great work experience, and in return we are fortunate to work among wonderful people in every department. One of our Values is Teamwork. We are committed to debating our differences to reach the best decision, and then work together to support it. Everyone has a chance to play...to speak up and share their thoughts and ideas. Sometimes this happens behind closed doors for confidentiality reasons, and sometimes it is to avoid disrupting others who work nearby. Employees are always welcome to reach out to any member of management or schedule a meeting if they have something to discuss. So, while the doors may not always literally be open, we are always open to hearing from employees. Yes, there are a lot of meetings, and your advice is acknowledged. It is a difficult balance to strike between trying to keep everyone involved/up-to-date v. having too many meetings to attend. Thanks for the reminder that we need to keep that in check. Thanks for your 3+ years of service with Horizon!
