Pros

I enjoy the new GM that has been brought in.

Cons

HE did not do any demographic study to know what they were getting into. I prefer management groups that are builders and not cutters. Building takes effort and thought and creativeness. Anyone can cut

Pros

Great branding, excellent broad skill sets from many diverse people with different backgrounds, and hires quality associates. The core values on paper are sound, and the company is stable. Great introduction company to hospitality. View it like a starter home; get in, learn the skills, and move on to a company who can provide you with opportunity. The programs and practices on a property level are great opportunities for those looking to learn the business and the business model, from a financial perspective. The hourly associates and lower management salaried associates really do care about their properties and this is a great group of people to work alongside and learn from. There are many people with very diverse backgrounds. There are also several people within the upper echelon of corporate who are very dedicated and helpful individuals despite the comments that will follow in the "con" section. The Christian value model is commendable, if not demonstrated.

Cons

Went from caring to corporate in a few years. Base pay for both hourly and salary is not competitive in the markets they are in. Benefits are terrible for hourly. Growth potential is minimal, and promotions are not based on skill, but rather, who is well-liked. Losing GREAT managers/coaches/associates frequently now, due to all the reasons listed in the previous reviews. Associates are left on auto-pilot, and are rarely acknowledged for their contributions, often leaving them to stagnate in the same position for abnormally long times, despite their efforts to be noticed and acknowledged by bringing results to the table and stability and profitability to their respective properties. Many, many promises have been made to many people, and very few are actually fulfilled. Certain senior executives will blatantly lie to your face concerning your future, if it is in their best interests. Honesty goes a long way. The core values are there; they have just been ignored as of late, and everyone except the upper echelon of corporate management sees it, hence the preemptive departure of so many associates over the last few years. There is no open door policy. The "three legged stool" that consists of responsibility to it's owners, it's guests, and it's associates so often touted in the culture statement lost one of it's legs a few years ago. A two legged stool will always fall in the end, even if it manages to stay upright for a time.

The success of HE seams to be a thing of the past and the company no longer communicates with or values team members at any level.
