      Pros

      Some schools are really good. The students willing to learn are a bast to teach. Christmas and summers off is nice to say the least.

      Cons

      First year of teaching you are likely to have to take a job at a really bad school. HISD is really disorganized. Gangs, lack of support by the Administration.

      Pros

      The insurance benefits were good. The support I got from other teachers was great, a blessing sent from God.

      Cons

      Contract did not state where I would teach, what I would teach, or for how much, just how I could mess up and be dismissed. That was my heads up that the year would be difficult. For all the upfront "training", nothing was helpful. I was expected to do everything perfectly the first time on one hand, but give the administration the benefit of the doubt for all their mistakes and less than timely work.
