      Off on all holidays and summer with pay.

      Pros

      The children that you serve are difficult at times, but they are awesome, funny, and sweet. If you are lucky, you will be placed at a school with a principal and staff that are really trying to get things done.

      Cons

      Houston ISD is large and disorganized. They have a new initiative each year, but they don't stick with anything. Many of the leaders are lost or they don't have the stick-to-itness required to make a real change. All the leaders aren't bad though, latch to the ones who aren't and pray for the others.

      Professional people to work with great place to get training

      Cons

      difficult to get 1st time teaching job if you are not bilingual and in another recertification program other than HISD.
