Pros

Houzz is a company that is built to last with motivating and inspiring leaders and a team of A-players who are not only smart but also kind, and who truly enjoy working together. It's a fun and relaxed environment free of the internal politics and unnecessary bureaucracy I've experienced at every other company that I've worked for.

Cons

It's hard for me to think of any cons!

Pros

If you're going to spend your days working away from your family anyway, it should be in an environment that's fun, relaxing and friendly. And the only way to achieve such an environment is through the people who inhabit it. I think Houzz has mastered this formula. While the hiring can be slow here, it's worth it because anyone who joins the team feels like a familiar face. That creates a unique energy that, coupled with the excitement that surrounds this fast-growing company, makes it an exciting place to show up to every morning. In addition, the fact that everyone is a part of developing something original and beneficial to real people fosters enthusiasm in the office. We're all working on something that millions of people are using every day to create their dream home. For that, I've never seen anything but smiles here. We all sit in one big open space. There's dinner every night and lunch every Friday from some of Palo Alto's best restaurants. We celebrate every employee's birthday with a treat of their choice. There's a fully stocked kitchen with every kind of organic fruit and snack (both healthy and junky) that you can imagine. The office is located in downtown Palo Alto on the bustling University Avenue just a few short blocks from the CalTrain station. All this makes it a wonderful place to be. It's truly the best company I've worked for, in terms of everything from the environment, attitude and the actual work that I'm producing.

Cons

Palo Alto is incredibly expensive to live in, so it's difficult to get a place really close to the office. But it's walking distance to the train station, so commuting is pretty easy.

Pros

My Coworkers: There obviously is a trend with who we hire. I am surrounded by hardworking, friendly, fun, good hearted people. I can honestly say that I truly enjoy everyone I work with. When someone gets a sale the whole office knows about it and sends emails saying "congrats!" "great job!" "way to go!" Everyone is genuinely happy for your successes. It is more like a family environment than a corporate environment. Our Founders: Adi and Alon are so inspiring. Although our company is growing at an unbelievable rate they still stick to the core values they started the company with. They recently flew the entire Palo Alto office down to Orange County and had a huge dinner planned for both offices at the Pelican Hill Resort. Alon was so personable, real, and still genuinely in awe of how much his company had grown. And Adi is a soon to be mother of 3 yet she still flies down to interview every single candidate before they are hired. Talk about dedication. I will never forget what she said in my interview with her. I had asked her if she always knew what she wanted to be when she was growing up and she said "I knew that if I worked hard, stuck to what I believed in, and treated those around me well that someday I would end up being successful." I thought that was such an inspiring thing to hear and has still stuck with me today. Growth: There is so much opportunity for growth at Houzz. As we get bigger Houzz is constantly promoting within. It gives everyone a goal to strive for. Benefits: Insurance starts the day you get hired and is paid almost completely by the company. They also have an extremely lenient vacation policy. As for bonuses, everyone is constantly being rewarded for working hard. My husband cracks up laughing when I come home because I will be like "Guess what? I won $100 to the movies today!" "Guess what? I won an iPad mini today!" "Guess what? I won a TRIP TO LAS VEGAS TODAY!" Haha the perks are unreal. They know that we all work our butts off and they constantly make sure that we know that they appreciate it. When you have a company that supports you and appreciates you it makes you want to work hard for them. The Professionals: It is such a great feeling to work with home design and remodeling Pro's and know that you are making a positive impact on their business. I have had Pro's email me saying that they have never had anything work this well for the business. The sales world is tough, but to know that you actually have a great program that you are selling makes it a whole lot easier. FOOD: I put this one last because it probably isn't as important as the other items haha but I still think it is worth mentioning. We have a stocked kitchen filled with all sorts of healthy food/snacks. It is so nice to not have to run out to buy lunch every day. We also have lunch catered from restaurants 1 to 2 times a week.

Cons

That my cheeks hurt from smiling at the end of the day. Also, that there are so many beautiful photos on our site...I now have 4 projects in mind that I want to complete in my home :)
