Pros

Great team, great culture, great employee benefits, strict hiring process so that they usually weed out people who are all talk and no brains

Cons

Culture is eroding fast due to rapid company expansion. No real growth opportunities. Work-life balance looks more like a metric to hit rather than actually caring about this balance. Employees forced to work back-to-back tasks non-stop all day and pressured to go home on time. A lot of burnout.

Thanks for being a HubSpot alumni, and for your feedback. Life-work fit is definitely something we are still working to evolve as we grow--the autonomy we offer everyone is great, but can also mean folks don't always unplug as much as they/we might like, so we have to find a good middle ground there. Nonetheless, we really do value employee feedback via the ENPS and other channels, so I think folks over the past six months have seen some of the meaningful changes we have made as a direct result of employee input. Sorry to hear you didn't see that first-hand--I promise it's a critical priority for what we do here and that we care deeply about getting both our broad culture and our support culture right. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

Lots to write here. The month-long new-hire onboarding is very intensive but a good bootcamp for learning about the company, the product, and the industry. As long as you are hitting you're number, you can enjoy the amenities of flexible work (remote). Their investment in building a culture team shows as an employee with numerous events at the office as well as after hours/weekends. My favorite part of working here was the learning - from colleagues as well as the Hub Talks where they bring in executives from other companies to share their story.

Cons

In sales, it was a bit of an extra grind with monthly quotas which further amplified "what have you done for me lately" feeling. There would be pressure to oversell/force a sale too quickly at the expense of hitting a monthly number from your direct managers/directors at points. Managers also are overworked/spread too thin so the employees that work under them get limited development/coaching because their manager is often running around in meetings, interviews, etc... This in turn leads to the 1:1s to be about your forecast and spreadsheets and less on coaching and developing with deals. There was also a lack of development for reps wanting to move into manager roles - a lot of it is left to you with the expectation that you won't get a manager job until having interview several times.

Thanks for being a HubSpot Alumni from our sales team, and for sharing your feedback on this review. Over the past six months, we've added a bunch of resources in both sales and within People Ops to help address ongoing learning and development of reps and to streamline onboarding with all the new products we have, so I hope we are delivering on your feedback already. Thanks for taking the time to share it, and hope we see you very soon! -Katie

Remarkable Onboarding Experience

Pros

After 6+ years at agencies, to say that I was nervous to start at HubSpot was an understatement. I was starting in a new role and in a brand new industry, but after my first day of training, I knew I had made the right decision. The onboarding experience was something I had never encountered before and made my transition comfortable. Beyond product training, thanks to my manager I had my own training and onboarding projects that set me up for success. I continue to learn each and every day at HubSpot and love working for a company that is so transparent, flexible and values each and every employee as individuals embracing their strengths and differences.

Cons

It's truly up to each and every manager to set up new hires for success. The L&D team is fantastic with robust product training, but I'm not sure I would have felt so secure in my new role if I hadn't had the specific onboarding projects from my manager afterwards, so I would continue to encourage managers to put the effort into thinking about the best way to train new hires for specific roles to ensure success.

I'm so glad you joined us and made the switch, and over the moon that you felt supported in your transition! You're spot on that we still have a bit of work to do from in training to on the job, but the amazing folks on our L&D team are hard at work bridging that gap in a multi-product, global-first company world--if anyone can do it, they can. I'm so ecstatic that you felt the time, attention and care folks put into your onboarding experience--we are so glad you're here, and appreciate your feedback and the thoughtful review! -Katie
