Pros

Remote work and health benefits

Cons

HubSpot is really leaning out its marketing department. If you like doing the job of three people — and get invigorated by the occasional layoff — I encourage your to apply. But seriously, though. What is going on? The CEO said no more layoffs in December and here we are, a few months later, with another silent layoff. And while there's no "right" way to do a layoff, they're very callous in how they do it. Out of respect for my colleagues, I will leave it at that. All that aside, you'll notice a common theme in all these reviews, and it's that your experience at HubSpot is largely dependent on your manager. Unfortunately, many people in management positions at HubSpot are not qualified. Another big call out if career growth. In my experience, you will get saddled with more and more work but your title and compensation will not budge. This is not a place to grow.

Tough review to read, and sorry that you feel let down by HubSpot, recent business changes, and our manager support. -Katie

Pros

- Some really great people still there who are smart, collaborative, hard working and caring - Product teams do a great job launching new features - Decent opportunities for internal career advancement - Remote work flexibility

Cons

I worked at HubSpot pre-Covid. The energy and support I felt from other HubSpotters way back when was amazing. It got the company through the hard early days of lockdown - then the surge in business that came right after. We supported each other through the good and the bad. HEART wasn't just a culture slogan but how most HubSpotters approached each other and their customers. But then something changed. "High performance culture" came in. Another way of saying we'll get rid of anyone for any reason we want. No more trying to lift up your fellow HubSpotter and supporting each other through challenges and tough times. Micromanagement took over and the vibe turned to Survivor. So many long time employees and leaders have left the company recently. It's become like any other big software company.

Sorry to read this--that's the opposite of what we are trying to do, and you'll see our team is sharing more this week on what employees can expect in terms of investments and growth in the year ahead, so I hope that helps take some of the "sting" or perceived fear out of the messaging and approach on performance, but please keep the feedback coming if it doesn't. -Katie

One of my worst work experiences

Pros

Great work from home support

Cons

I was so excited to work here based on their culture deck, but I've yet to see any of the stated values lived out. You are only a number here. My worth as an employee and development opportunities are irrelevant. All that matters is the metrics. My manager has no idea what my goals are, where I'd like to develop...nothing. Nor have they (or anyone else) invested in me as a person. There is almost toxic support given to management. If you are struggling, you are told to figure out a way to make it work or move on from the company. I feel completely disconnected from this company. Many of us feel like outsiders here. If your manager isn't someone who actively cares about your journey, you won't have any opportunities to connect and grow otherwise. The most disheartening part is how cliquey VPs are. It's a cool kids club. If you're in, poor results will be dismissed. I've watched people who mismanaged products and have done a terrible job leading people (almost the whole team quit because of leadership) get promoted and praised because they're "in". I've never heard an encouraging word (or any acknowledgment really) from upper management. It's been a sad, demoralizing experience. I can't wait to get out.
