Pros

The company does have aggressive growth plans, or at least that is the way they lured top talent like me from the bay area. People are relatively nice and work is not too fast paced. You get the standard perks such as coffee, breakfast, beer etc. that have become table stakes now.

Cons

Work is not as exciting as I had thought and the product managers are just some rude East coast MBAs. The quality of the software engineering talent in the company is actually pretty bad compared to the two other companies I have worked with. It does not feel or work like a start-up. So don't let them fool you with "start-up culture". It is the same messy office politics culture you can expect in a badly run mature company.

Sorry to hear that HubSpot didn't meet your expectations--our goal is for the rhetoric and the reality of working here to be one and the same. Would welcome a conversation if you're open to having one on how we can improve on this.

Pros

Free snacks and friendly coworkers.

Cons

Inexperienced managers who became managers by default when sales teams got too big, coupled with the lack of development of those managers led to terrible leadership experiences. Worked 60+ hour weeks for months and got nothing but flak for it.

Pros

The people at the individual contributor level

Cons

We have had more and more benefits taken from us this year. We no longer have unlimited PTO nor our week of rest. The company still posted all over social media about it even though we have to take from our own limited PTO now to take that week off. Almost the full company worked still.

We’ve seen the feedback on our recent post about Week of Rest and appreciate the chance to clarify. This year, we made a shift — instead of a shared, company-wide break, we offered employees more flexibility to take time off when it made the most sense for them and their teams. Many still chose to take that same week to recharge, but our post didn’t reflect that change as clearly as it could have. We know how important time off is — for rest, mental health, and showing up as our best selves. We’re glad so many HubSpotters were able to unplug, and we’re deeply appreciative of those who continued supporting our customers and colleagues during that time. We’ll be more mindful moving forward to make sure what we share publicly reflects the full picture. You can always learn more about our benefits, including Flexible Time Off on our Careers Site: https://www.hubspot.com/careers/benefits Thanks for sharing your feedback and all that you do.
