Pros

The culture is great... if you are liberal... and you agree with management. There are a lot of wonderful accommodations and perks.

Cons

The pay is horrendous. The "cult-like" culture rumors are completely true. While the culture claims to be the "best", I have seen managers padding results with fake posts on Glassdoor, and I reported this internally only to find nothing was done. The culture is extremely liberal. It is very closed minded in terms of opinions that aren't in line with the company bureaucracy. I'm liberal, but I'd prefer to leave my political opinions and religious beliefs at the door. The work-life balance is somewhat hit or miss. Some teams have more challenging work than others, but the expectations aren't adjusted accordingly. Managers tend to play favorites, allowing personal feelings to impact productivity. Management is a bit underhanded at times. There was a RIF during covid. It wasn't announced, and it was carried out in an extremely underhanded way. The interview process is ok, but they've let a lot of good talent slip through the cracks based on a process that is weighted towards college graduates and being restrictive in terms of compensation.

Sorry to hear you feel this way-honestly we don't see eye to eye on this one at all, so it's hard for me to respond or engage in a productive way other than to say I'm sorry you feel that way and thank you for your time and feedback here. -Katie

Pros

-Very intelligent people -Potential to learn a lot about inbound marketing, technology and business -Cool office space -Free food and beer

Cons

-Absolutely no work-life balance. If you are looking to devote your life to something - this may be your nirvana. If you have friends, family, other hobbies and/or a relationship you care about outside of HubSpot, good luck maintaining that while working here. If you're not physically in the office, you're expected to be working at all times. Everyone acts like everything is life or death. It's inbound marketing software, not an emergency room. -No structure. If you like to do your own thing and are very entrepreneurial, you may enjoy this. Policies and company direction can change day to day and you may be working in marketing one day, in product the next. -No HR department. Good luck if you have issues with your manager. -Unlimited Vacation Policy = No vacation time. In Sales you have to be there over a year, making your number every month to even get a week off. -No reimbursement/discount for parking or T passes. -Insane turnover. The past year of acquistions, one in particular, has brought more change than HubSpot can handle. Many long time employees (particularly on the developer side) have left in frustration as the new world order came in and rolled over everything. Anyone who was critical of this was eliminated or left because they were so miserable.

Pros

WFH is a nice perk and my teammates are all amazing

Cons

Burn-out culture! If you care about having a personal life and your mental health, please avoid at all cost. The micromanagement is like anything I’ve seen before and is mentally exhausting. Strong emphasis on KPIs regardless of if you’re hitting your quota or not. My entire team is absolutely terrified to miss quota and the pressure is insane. Don’t even think about taking time off if you’re in sales. They have a yearly “recharge” week in July (really they just give you an extra couple of days in July to make it 1 week) and that is the only time off you’re expected to take. The HEART culture is a myth and I have experienced 0 Empathy so far at HubSpot. Good luck to anyone thinking of joining!

Hmm--this review is very much at odds with what we stand for as a company on a number of levels. Hoping you are talking with your HRBP (or will consider doing so) because this is the opposite of what we aim to achieve. -Katie
