Thank you so much for leaving this review! We are thrilled that you like the work culture. The nature of our operations is such that we need to resort to rotational shifts in order to keep the business running. We make sure that we give adequate leave and compensatory offs to Hudlies when they are asked to work on weekends so that they do not get exhausted. We're always looking at ways to improve and appreciate you taking the time to share your personal experience. One of our key values is We listen, so thank you again!

Pros

Sport, as a domain, is generally quite fun and interesting, even if you aren't interested in any sports. The problems to be solved are challenging. There are a lot of smart people that you get to work with, and more importantly, learn from. I've definitely learned a lot more here vs. elsewhere. Investment in projects and the work is high and there is definitely a belief in what we do. A relatively flat structure when working and communicating, you genuinely are free to slack VPs or the CEO/CTO if you feel you need to. This then means communication across the company is non-hierarchical. Always encouraged to speak up. There's a good environment in the office but remote employees are also catered for and are not an afterthought. Unlimited vacation is a decent perk - take what you need, whilst still getting your job done and being treated like an adult.

Cons

Benefits have been scaled back and are not always useful e.g. cycle to work has almost no option and they won't change it, even though it costs the company nothing! Previously had Udemy and Pluralsight now we have a company library of training, that not many people contribute to. Pay is OK but discrepancies are high. Talk about "bands" which never get communicated. Coming in as an experienced hire will likely get you a bump but not much is done around equity or market matching for incumbent high performers, despite claims of wanting to "retain the best talent". Progression is not always clear at more senior levels

Thanks for leaving such a thoughtful review. It sounds like you’ve been able to experience the best of what Hudl has to offer: our people, our culture and our mission. Our benefits and perks also set us apart, and as you mentioned, are always evolving. Our priority is to ensure that our offerings are fresh and reflect the needs of our team. We realize that there are benefits that could be improved, like the cycle to work perk you mentioned. While it wouldn’t cost us anything to change providers, the team recently needed to prioritize more time-sensitive projects, but have assured me it remains on their roadmap. About our pay band project, this is just one part of our broader pay structure project that has been developed by our compensation team. The good news is that leadership and managers will begin training on pay bands this month, and will be using them in our upcoming end-of-year merit cycle. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. Glad you’re on the team!
