Good, but not GREAT

Pros

Flexible hours, ability to work lots of hours, great employees and managers

Cons

Sometimes the customers are jerks (expected). If you're a guy, expect to bring in carts all day for 8 hours and get looked at funny when you go and get some water.

Pros

Friendly co-workers, managers are engaging and helpful. In general, a better grocery store to work for, in comparison with others.

Cons

Young and well educated employees will find a hard time to find a career job at HyVee since the company value employees with longer work time at HyVee. The base pay is below industry standard but reasonable. Also the diversity at HyVee is extremely low. You will rarely see (or none) any non-white upper manager or corporate manager. However, it is just my personal observation, not a statistical statement.

Managers Lack Management Training

Pros

Great company, good benefits, somewhat flexible, depending on who your manager is.

Cons

As a FT employee, you are expected to work 50+ hours. Also, management does not go through any management training; how to treat employees, how to deal with them, etc.
